Roof Garden by Studio Weave | 2014
The rooftop at London College of Fashion, part of the original design for the Central London building, was transformed by architecture practice Studio Weave.
The space was an homage to textiles and concrete. Conceived as an outdoor space for students to relax in, the new roof garden has been laid with brightly coloured decking in a herringbone pattern – a nod to the college’s textile roots, which has the dual role of emphasising the bold modernist concrete frame of the building.
The mixture of planters, seats and tables will enable learning in small groups, as well as Fashion Space Gallery’s events programme. An event series curated by Meneesha Kellay, as part of the London Festival of Architecture and Open House London, launched this newly invigorated environment above the rooftops of Central London.
